Welcome, When you think of Alaska, you can't help but be overwhelmed by its natural beauty. Picture yourself standing on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. Imagine walking thousands of feet high on a glacier in Denali National Park, with the summit of Mt. McKinley just out of reach. Try kayaking around two story icebergs in Prince William Sound. Dare to have close encounters with the costal brown bears in Katmai National Park, Alaska.
It's only then that you realize that there is a power higher than yourself; a greater power capable by one command to bring into existence something not seen before. These experiences are ones that become engraved in your mind for a lifetime. That's Alaska! His Handiwork Photography is all about bringing these experiences to the comfort of your home.

Moose in Denali National Park, Alaska |
|
While photographing in Denali National Park, Alaska at Horseshoe Lake, we observed two moose calves running to mom for safety.
Moose calves stand about two feet tall and are about three feet long. They may weigh from 20 to 35 pounds.
A newborn moose will be a twin or even a triplet. A calf can stand within a few hours. It can wobble after its mother on its first day. After a few days it should be able to outrun man.
Most mother moose stay near the birth site for several days until their calves are strong enough to face the world. When mother does move on, the moose calf will follow on land or in deep water. If its mother goes into deep water, the moose calf may balk but it will eventually swim after her.
Nature has few mothers as protective as the moose. Anyone who ventures to close to a moose calf is likely to regret it. A mother moose will defend against a bear. Moose calf mortality from bear attacks still occurs if young moose are caught in surprise attacks.

Kayaking Alaska's Prince William Sound |
Flying in the Denali Mountain Range |
When I was growing up in Michigan, I often felt a longing to explore in wild places. This deep longing for "somewhere" eventually lead me on journeys to the Canadian sub-arctic and the Arctic regions of Alaska. Traveling from Katmai National Park to the Denali Mountain Range, Yukon Territory, and journeys beyond gave me a greater spiritual understanding as I connected with these wild places.
It is during those journeys that I found a oneness with the Creator who formed the landscape with His own hands. That has influenced my work as a photographer ever since. My hope is that my images will inspire you to go out and explore and appreciate the wilderness around you.
